On May 31, 2024, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Edil Baisalov held a meeting on Global Climate Change in the small hall of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The meeting was attended by scientists of the Academy A. Aidaraliev, T. Mamytov A. Akmatbekov. D. Chontoev, K. Shalpykov J.B. made a speech.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Edil Baisalov, speaking to the participants of the meeting, noted that within five years (from 2022) the Kyrgyz Republic will head the global agenda for sustainable mountain development, which will result in the second Mountain Summit, which will be held in Bishkek in 2027.
“At a time when global climate change creates many serious consequences for the established way of life in the mountains, including threats such as depletion of water resources, destruction of glaciers, changes in flora and fauna, the leadership of the Kyrgyz Republic is interested in mobilizing scientific research on this issue, drawing the attention of the world community to improving conditions for adaptation and mitigation climate change, as well as the sustainable development of mountains,” said Edil Baysalov.
Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences, academician, Doctor of Law, Professor Arabaev Cholponkul Isaevich in his closing speech noted that climate change affects not only Kyrgyzstan, but also the whole nature, all countries of the world, noted that Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Edil Baysalov specially came to the Academy to get an opinion, the proposals of scientists on the issue of global importance. He also expressed gratitude to those present at the meeting.
