On April 22, 2024, the XVI Congress of the National Union of Writers of the Kyrgyz Republic was held in the conference hall of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The congress started at 11 o’clock and ended at 12 o’clock. Then the founding plenum of the Board of 142 members took place. It lasted until 19: 30.

4 candidates competed for the presidency of the Writers’ Union – Atantai Akbarov, Kanybek Imanaliev, Kozhogeldi Kultegin, Zhediger Salaev.

At the end of the 1st round, Kanybek Imanaliyev and Kozhogeldi Kultegin competed, who received the most votes in the 2nd round, as a result, Kanybek Imanaliyevcame out ahead, gaining 71 votes.

At the plenum, Kanybek Imanaliyev was elected chairman and asked the members of the Board of the Plenum to elect Atantai Akbarov as deputy.

During the voting, Atantai Akbarov was unanimously elected deputy chairman.

At the end of the Plenum, toraga Kanybek Imanalievexpressed his deep gratitude to those present.
