On December 2, 2022, the Republican Scientific and Practical Conference was held at the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic in honor of the centenary of the recording of the epic “Manas” from the mouth of the storyteller S. Orozbakov and the seventieth anniversary of the All-Union Scientific and Practical Conference of 1952, dedicated to the study of the Kyrgyz epic “Manas”. The conference was organized by the Institute of Language and Literature named after Ch. Aitmatov of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic and was held jointly with the National Manas Theater and the Book Chamber of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The event was attended by the President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, Corresponding Member K.E. Abdrakhmatov, Advisor to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic B.I. Borubashev, deputies of the Parliament, scientists of the country, manaschi and representatives of the scientific community. Academician A.A. Akmataliev was the organizer and moderator of the conference.
The event includes: presentation of the four-volume text of the Manas epic, based on the storytelling version of S. Orozbakov, from the previously published academic text of the epic and the presentation of the second edition of the combined version of the Manas epic.

“Manas” in ethnography: traditional foundations of the Kyrgyz people: feasts, celebrations, customs and rituals
The epic “Manas” in the studies of foreign scientists
The epic “Manas” in translations into foreign languages
Brief short information: In 1952, a scientific forum was held on an all-Union scale, in which the question of the nationality of the Manas epic was discussed. This date, marked as the “Conference of 1952”, is not only an important milestone in the history of the study of the Kyrgyz epic, but is marked in the cultural history of the country as a turning point and fateful moment in the preservation of the national identity of the Kyrgyz. This memorable forum was remembered in history as the progressive part of the nation managed to wrest the intellectual property of the people from the ideological fetters of the regime.
The event was initiated by the USSR Academy of Sciences with the participation of all-Union scientists such as Alexander Borovkov, Alexander Bernshtam, Mukhtar Auezov. Scientists of the republic also actively participated: Bolot Yunusaliev, Medina Bogdanova, Omurkul Zhakishev, Bubu Kerimzhanova.
