On June 15, 2023 the Institute of Water Problems and Hydropower of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic held a scientific round table “The reason for the shortage of water in Bishkek and Kyrgyzstan”.

The purpose of the scientific round table is the scientific substantiation of the causes of water shortage in the city of Bishkek and in whole Kyrgyzstan. Topical problems of water scarcity, the development of practical measures and recommendations on the problem of water scarcity and water management methods for decision makers were discussed at the scientific roundtable.

All interested persons were invited to this meeting: representatives of state bodies, mass media, experts, scientists carrying out research in the field of water problems.

As a result of the round table, the decision was made:

1. Close cooperation of research institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic with state bodies, institutions, decision makers interested in sustainable provision of the population of Bishkek and other regions with water;

2. Developed practical recommendations to improve the water management system to transfer to the relevant authorities.
