An international scientific and practical conference on the topic: “Topical issues of environmental research for sustainable development in arid zones”

On August 16-17, 2023, was held at the Royal Beach Club Hotel in the village of Choktal, Issyk-Kul region.

The objectives of the conference: discussion of current environmental problems in the field of water resources and glaciology, biodiversity, pasture use, climate change and ecosystem monitoring, as well as risk reduction from natural disasters; exchange of information, knowledge and experience between scientists and specialists from different countries on regional problems of Central Asia.

The conference was organized by the Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (Bishkek) jointly with the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Institute of Geology named after o M. M. Adyshev of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Xinjiang Agrarian University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Biology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic Institute of Water Problems and Hydropower of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The conference was held in the form of a plenary session and 5 sections:
1. Water resources and water purification technologies;
2. Natural disasters;
3. Biodiversity;
4. Climate change and environmental monitoring systems;
5. Sustainable use of pastures.

The conference was attended by scientists from leading research and educational institutions, scientific centers of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, China, Japan, representatives of legislative and executive authorities, heads of state bodies and non-governmental structures.
