On September 08, 2023 Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) Dr. Robert Floyd visited the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic (NAS KR). Negotiations took place at the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic between Dr. Robert Floyd and the President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, NAS KR corresponding member, doctor of sciences (geology), Prof. K. Abdrakhmatov, within the framework of which the level of cooperation between the CTBTO and the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic was discussed, a corresponding assessment of the work of the staff of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic within the framework of the CTBTO was given in accordance with the obligations specified in the Charter of the CTBTO, and perspectives for further cooperation were also discussed.

A meeting took place with Dr. Robert Floyd with representatives of scientific institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, within the framework of which Dr. Floyd presented brief information about the goals and objectives of the CTBTO and answered questions from staff of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.

As part of his visit to the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, Dr. Robert Floyd visited the Institute of Seismology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, where a presentation was given on the work of the IS NAS KR Data Center (NDC093), which is a structural unit of the International Data Center of the CTBTO (IDC CTBTO). There was also a tour of the historical archive of the IS NAS KR and the work on its preservation was shown, including the digitization and analysis of records of nuclear explosions carried out at various world nuclear test sites and recorded by seismic stations of the IS NAS KR. At the end of the visit, there was an excursion to the Ala-Archa seismic station (AAK), which is a part of the International Monitoring System of the CTBTO (IMS CTBTO).
