The President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic took part in the International Forum on Sustainable Development of Ecology and the Environment in the Silk Road Economic Belt

On September 17-19, 2023, the President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, Corresponding Member K.E. Abdrakhmatov took part in the International Forum on Sustainable Development of Ecology, Environment in the Silk Road Economic Belt (Urumqi, China), organized by the Qingjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Academy of Sciences of the People’s Republic of China.

The main purpose and objective of the event, announced by the organizer, were: An Action Plan for the development of green technologies in Central Asia.

In order to make full use of the experience and technologies of China and Central Asian countries in the field of environmental management, efficient water-saving agriculture and food security, sustainable use of water resources, biodiversity conservation and other areas, the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Department of Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection of the State Development Committee and Center for International Cooperation of the State Committee for Development and Reforms, World Association of Young Scientists, Together with partners from five Central Asian countries, we initiated an Action Plan for the Development of Green Technologies in Central Asia.

The participants of the international forum discussed the following issues:

On the establishment of a “Mechanism for dialogue between the heads of research institutions of China and Central Asian countries”, on holding annual consultations on the implementation of projects and a plan for the next year, as well as on determining priority areas of cooperation.
On the construction of the “Research Center for Innovative Technologies of the Green Aral Sea” for conducting scientific research in the field of green and sustainable development of the Aral Sea region, as well as research, development and integration of integrated environmental management technologies, and its large-scale demonstration, and also the adoption of an integrated model of environmental and economic management of the Aral Sea to assist in improving the ecological, economic and social environment of the Aral Sea region.
