NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES OF THE KYRGYZ REPUBLIC INSTITUTE OF WATER PROBLEMS AND HYDROPOWER A ROUND TABLE WAS HELD

On April 23, 2024, a round table “Water resources problems in Kyrgyzstan in connection with climate change”; “Water for peace” in Kyrgyz and Russian languages, organized by the Institute of Water Problems and Hydropower of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, was held in the conference hall of the Institute of Water Problems and Hydropower of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The main purpose of the Round Table was to discuss the main problems related to water resources in Kyrgyzstan, innovative methods for clarifying and forecasting water resources, effective and rational water distribution and water consumption, adaptation to climate change.

The Round table discussed issues in the following scientific and practical areas:

1. Innovative methods for assessing water and energy resources of river

basins of the Kyrgyz Republic.

2. Monitoring, modeling and forecasting of the state of water bodies.

3. The impact of climate change on the dynamics of glaciation and water

resources.

Experts conducting research on the problems of water and hydropower resources, as well as undergraduates, postgraduates, doctoral students of universities and scientific institutions were invited to the Round table.

The round table was opened by the Director of the Institute of Water Problems and Hydropower of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Professor Chontoev Dogdurbek Toktosartovich, who made a speech and briefly answered the questions posed.

Then the participants were congratulated by the President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, corresponding member K.E. Abdrakhmatov.
